イメージフォーラム（渋谷）で上映中の
『＜特別上映＞ピエール・エテックス レトロスぺクティブ』へ行った。
プログラムは4つから構成されており、その中の長編『恋する男』(1962年)と併映の『破局』(1961年)の組み合わせをみてきた。
学問に没頭する青年ピエールが、テレビでみたシャンソン歌手に一目惚れしてしまい、
妄想がエスカレートしていき、プロポーズをしに楽屋への侵入を企てる様子をユニークに画く。
モノクロサイレント映画を彷彿とさせる映画です。
併映のデビュー作『破局』のテンポある展開もとても気に入っている。
エテックスの作品は、権利問題で上映できずに長い時間が過ぎ去っていたがゴダールやリンチら映画人の署名活動により、2010年に復権し、本人監修のもとデジタルリマスター化、劇場での上映となった経緯がある。
喜劇王キートンやチャップリンとは異なる、フランス流のお洒落でコミカルな演出は、強く印象に残りました。
2023年2月16日までの上映。
Rétrospective Pierre Étaix ~A comedy with a tragic fate
Screening at “Image Forum” (Shibuya, Tokyo)
I went to “<Special Screening> Rétrospective Pierre Étaix”.
The program consisted of four parts, from which we watched a combination of the feature film “LE SOUPIRANT” (1962) and the short film “RUPTURE” (1961).
Pierre, a young man who is immersed in his studies, falls in love at first sight with a chanson singer he sees on TV.
As his delusions escalate, he uniquely captures how he plots to break into her dressing room to propose to her.
It’s a movie reminiscent of black-and-white silent films.
I really like the tempo development of my debut work “RUPTURE”.
Étaix’s work has long since been blocked from screening due to rights issues. It was reinstated in 2010 through signature campaigns by filmmakers such as Godard and Lynch. After that, under the supervision of Étaix himself, it was digitally remastered and screened in theaters.
I was strongly impressed by the stylish and comical production of the French style, which is different from the comedy kings Keaton and Chaplin.
The film is in theaters until February 16, 2023.
